I am asked by the new head of the cultural office of the city of Bregenz (Vorarlberg, Austria) Jutta Dieing whether I would like to „illustrate“ her concept for a new cultural strategy. I‘d have 100%-free-hand and she‘d like to use it then for her public presentations. I read the concept and accept

As I read the document I remember a passage from “The Part and the Whole” where Heisenberg says to Weizäcker: “The elementary particles can be compared with the regular bodies in Platos Timaios. They are the archetypes, the ideas of matter.” I like that! ..and to play with Platonic bodies – that’s what I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

Thus: all strategy points, which are to gain significance through pictures, are represented by means of the picture play of geometrical bodies, as quasi with those Bodies/buildings that carry the culture within themselves and to the outside.

These again crystal-clear geometric bodies stand in visual relation with the crystal-clearest and all-encompassing body of all: the circle, the sphere, the sphere.

These images thus always relate two elements in different ways:
1 – a geometry-elementary part (alone, as pattern, structure, etc.)
2 – a circle (naked, as sphere(s), sphere(s), etc.)
An “ornamental game” that is “broken” and dynamized by the circles.

The 5 regular or platonic bodies are:
the tedrahedron / the cube / the octahedron / the icosahedron / the dodecahedron

So I do nothing other than look at the basic points, which there are also 5 in the strategy paper, as the archetypes of the strategy, as the ideas of matter, which are the subject of the 12 pages and 17 main terms. And to awaken them to a poetic life of their own by means of the 5 regular bodies in interaction with the circle.

Whereby the “geometric network of relationships”, which is to be generated in each case, is supposed to open one always different “space” for the imagination.

Extremely colorful, with crystal clear lights and shadows. Ornamental-crystalline patterns, color sparkling geometries.

Flying carpets of the relational.
