ARTISTIC INTELLIGENCE
i was invited to a workshop by a school for applied arts—the Istituto di Istruzione superiore Antonietta De Pace—in Lecce. the workshop is aimed at a class of students studying graphic design and visual communication.
i agree and prepare an 8-day workshop over 4 weeks on the topic of AI—ARTISTIC INTELLIGENCE. two days before the start, i receive a call informing me that there are problems with the class and asking if i could hold the workshop in the fashion class instead. oh, but yes, why not?
seventeen young women between the ages of 18 and 20. when i criticize the women on the very first day, calling them boring, completely uncreative, and old-fashioned because they are constantly glued to their smartphones, we begin to understand each other. they obviously don’t want to put themselves up with that. at the end of our first day, we decide to create haute couture made exclusively from waste.
i bring this graphic on the left with me as my work plan. In the middle of everything is SPIEL (game), the heart of all intelligence, surrounded clockwise by the four quadrants/weeks, whose keywords we want to discuss and reflect on at the beginning of each week. after this beautiful and exhausting experience i decide that i and want to present this Ur-Ki format to doublcheck in Vorarlberg soon. There, artists can present workshop formats, which are then reviewed and posted online, where teachers and schools can book them.
