…while Teresa and I meet regularly in Widnau to work on the c a l c archive, we are amazed at how much has accumulated over the course of our 20 years of working together on this project. We had forgotten about many projects that we had started or discarded for one reason or another. only when we have clearly structured the archive do we want to start working on the c a l c – b o o c – working title “A Short History of Art, 1990–2010, up to now and beyond. if all goes well, there will be three things at the end: an archive, a book, and a retrospective. but this end will be a beginning – a prospect as well – because the most important of the projects we will then present is one that has not yet been realized: Y-LAND. we have already outlined it twice and started with trials, but due to the politically endless sad, complex and uninviting situation in Palestine and Israel, we never got around to implementing it – never went back to Israel and Palestine since about 10 years.
But Eytan Shouker, with whom it all began in 2014 when we met at cittadellarte, and we are sticking to the project. the day will come when we will start working on it with Eytan and his art students at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. First, without abandoning the basic idea of a shared, growing Israeli-Palestinian pattern, we want to question everything anew.
